Travel + Leisure magazine has announced their Hottest Destinations for 2012, and while you are probably thinking, “Bali, Hawaii, Australia, the Seychelles… ” think again! The colder climates are in their prime right now, and Toronto comes in at number three on that list!
If you haven’t been to the city in a while, as writer Josh Durbin notes, “[it] has undergone a dramatic change in the past few years, led by remarkably hip restaurant, fashion, and nightlife scenes.”
Looking for some trendy art? Head down to the vintage haven of West Queen West where art galleries and antique shops abound. Stop in to wet your whistle at one of the hip cafe’s or bars on your way. Hungry? St Lawrence Market on Front Street should satisfy your cravings – hunt around for the perfect ingredients or settle at one of the community tables and tuck into something made-to-order fresh and city famous. Museum buff? Spend some time at the The Royal Ontario Museum where you’ll find art, history, and culture on a grand scale, or make the trip out to the Ontario Science Center to get up close and personal with some of life’s most fascinating mysteries.
From the ethnically diverse community to the ever-evolving cultural scene, the “New York of the North” literally has something for everyone.
